On-Going Contemplative Musicianship
Seminar Application Process

Contemplative Musicianship Seminar (RA- CM) — Rolling Admissions Process

  • The CM application process is a rolling admissions procedure.
  • Registrations for enrollment occur on an individual basis.
  • Applications are not reviewed daily. They are usually reviewed once a month during 10 – months of the year.
  • This continuing education RA-CM seminar is open to singers, instrumentalists, composers, chaplains, clinicians, and professionals from many walks of life (business, law, social work, nursing, medicine, IT, etc) with fundamental music competencies, a genuine love of music, and a longing for a deep formation in the spirituality of music.
  • CM applicants do not need to be harpists.
  • The CM enrollments are limited to ten individuals at any one time. y.
  • The RA – CM program is the pre-requisite for application to the RA-Music-Thanatology Seminar.
  • The Chalice of Repose Project has offered Contemplative Musicianship and Music-Thanatology programs for decades, and began offering its on-line programs in late 2004 for January 2005 matriculation.
  • RA-CM is typically a twelve-module distance learning, low-residency program. It usually combines ten delivered module lectures and two brief on-site visits usually scheduled in Oregon, but some students contract for a little more, or something slightly different, based on their individual needs. This variation is formally arranged on a case by case basis prior to matriculation.
  • Prior to matriculation, a calendar for module delivery and module completion is formalized by mutual agreement between the applicant and the program.
  • Prior to matriculation, each student receives an enrollment contract which is in effect for a specific and limited period of duration.
  • The entire course is taught in English and the flexibility offered by the rolling admissions process allows the academic calendar to be uniquely developed for each student. That calendar and any calendar revisions are mutually formalized following one’s acceptance and prior to one’s enrollment.
  • We do not usually post or deliver any modules in the months of July or December.
  • Extensions to meet unexpected situations are formally approved on a no-fault basis and are given for a specific limited duration. Unless there is an unexpected emergency, (such as a death in the family or a move or major transition) it is ideal to aim to complete the program in eighteen or twenty months.
