Donations
Gifts are heartily welcomed and support several crucial areas of our work:
- Local and national end-of-life clinical care services
- Local and national education-and-outreach programs and continuing education seminars
- Legacy publishing projects written on behalf of the Chalice of Repose Project’s pioneering works in Contemplative Musicianship® and Music-Thanatology®.
The Chalice of Repose Project® is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, registered in the State of Oregon, and gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. During our long multi-decade history, begun prior to the establishment of philanthropy databases, the clinical, educational, and publishing programs of the Chalice of Repose Project® have benefited from personal donations large and small as well as supportive grants from foundations or corporate sponsors. Historically, organizational gifts have reflected single donations and multiple-year pledges, while gifts from individual donors have taken surprising form, either occasional or annual.
We are grateful to the following organizations who have contributed generously to our work: The John E. Fetzer Institute, The Charles Engelhard Foundation, The Nathan Cummings Foundation, The Hueston Foundation, The Sisters of Providence, St. Patrick Hospital Foundation, The Goodman Group, The Soule Family Foundation, The Mamter Corporation, The Connemara Fund, The Globe Foundation.
Many individual donors who wish to remain anonymous have sent significant gifts and remembered us in estate bequests of all sizes, large and small. Some of our dearest individual donors identified themselves as elders sending the widow’s mite, while others have gifted our work with their donations for twenty consecutive years!
It is a joy to be able to take time out to acknowledge: Ken and Camille Thorp, Alfonso Angello, Lynn Getz, Hal Perry, Anthony Mamo, Alix Weisz, Georgia Zimmerman, and Lora Lee.
Sometimes an individual donor has sent a memorial gift on behalf of their greatly missed loved one. Other donors are physicians who are grateful for the care we have been able to provide to their patients. Some donors have been the survivors – friends or families of patients whom we have served – while others are artists or graduates who believe in our work and want to give back. Some donors are strangers who have read our literature or publications, seen our television documentaries, heard our NPR broadcasts, listened to CD recordings, podcasts, or attended one of our plenary addresses delivered at a national conference. Many individuals wish to remain anonymous, and some have given annually, though we do not send out any appeals letters as is the non-profit norm. There are those who have remembered us in their planned charitable giving by way of listing the Chalice of Repose Project® as a beneficiary of an annuity, charitable trust, or other kind of estate disbursement.
